OKAY. I FIXED A FEW THINGS. thats why its in your watch again x3

Finished piece ---> [link]

Anyone with more questions, comment please.
I WILL reply.

I also understand I suck at explaining xP tee hee.
So this has either confused you, or warped you.

AND. With regards to the paper type, I know that saying any paper will do seems a little reckless (as with a few comments I've gotten, people question me).
It probably isn't the best thing in the world, so if you want to be cautious, use watercolour (i.e. Cartridge) paper, then its far less likely the curl up on you.
I am just a lazy bum, and use printer paper (has a good quality for painting on) for my paintings.
But hey, they turn out nicely anyways, or so people have said x3

So yeah, its my bad guys. I should forewarned about the bubblyness of paper, I just didn't think it was that important -- unless you use mass loads of water x.x

I think I used acrylic, but watercolour can be used for the white dots too.

Hmm. I think it can, give it a try on a piece of paper! I've done something similar with markers.

wow senior!it's very1000x useful for me!!thank you!!!but, can i ask something?what should we add first when coloring?dark or light?

Work with light watercolour first, build up on it. Dark colours should be built up on.
That way if you make a mistake with light, and you are going to use dark eventually, you can cover it up or fix it easily. ^-^

...ah,right!!thank you for the lesson,senior!but,is this skill usable too if we use colour pencil too?

Ohh. You must colour lightly with dark pencil, then work into the colour if you want it to be darker. Hmmm.... try out a few techniques first, before you draw a proper picture.

i have watercolour paper, and drew a lineart on it in pencil, should i go over the lineart in a sharpie pen (fine tip) before i paint it? i really like this picture and don't want to screw it up.

Well, if you can clean up the pencil and make it fairly pale, you can maybe paint over it entirely, let it dry, then ink it. I don't now about Sharpie...its not a pen I've ever used before. You can also paint it in sections and leave it to dry.

I did draw pretty light. So inking it is not something you have to do? I was just wondering because in your picture it was inked, but maybe because it's watercolour paper it doesn't matter?

You can ink before or after, but if you think it could run, ink after.
Doesn't matter on any paper. Watercolour paper takes the paint better than normal paper.

you should tape the pic onto the table or smth while painting to keep it from getting wavy.

Hmm. That would work...for a little while. It would bubble up anyway unless you used watercolour paper. I understand what you mean though. ^-^;

Just a question. What type of watercolour do you use for skin tone.
Reply
:iconmeli-ichigo:
Meli-ichigo Featured By Owner Dec 8, 2008
Ah, do you mean colours? I use a mix of colours, from tangerine, vermilion, gold orche, sanguine and terracotta.
I tend to just use the same watercolour for skin as the clothing, I am really careful with the amount of colour I use. I layer on the colour.
Is that helpful at all? ;3
